About

Phillip Powers is originally from northeast Arkansas where he was raised in a Christian family. He trusted in Christ at the age of 8 years old, and he has been following Christ ever since. Throughout junior high and high school, he was very active in his church youth group, and when he was 15, he surrendered to follow God’s calling into full-time vocational ministry.

In 2006, He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Ouachita Baptist University where he also minored in Biblical Studies. The following year, he moved to southern California to attend Talbot School of Theology at Biola University, and he graduated with a Master of Divinity in Pastoral/General Ministries in May 2010. He spent the next 6 years working in corporate retail.

He met his wife, Winny, in 2015, and they were married 2 years later in April of 2017. She is originally from Indonesia, but her family immigrated to southern California when she was 11 years old. She is a physician assistant by profession, and she is a huge fan of Disney and Anaheim Ducks hockey. She passed on her love of the latter to Phillip, and he is now a bigger fanatic of hockey than she is.

They relocated back to northeast Arkansas in 2017 to be closer to Phillip’s family. Winny works for ARcare, a rural healthcare organization, and Phillip is currently serving as an elder at Redeemer Baptist Church. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies, New Testament at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and he preaches in area churches on a supply basis.

In 2020, after struggling through a series of miscarriages, they successfully conceived through IVF and subsequently gave birth to their first daughter, Mikayla. Their second daughter, Elianna, was born in 2022. They also have two dogs, Rufus, a 15 year old Norfolk terrier, and Roxie, a 8 year old shepherd/lab mix.
